"No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn" - Hal Borland
Okay, Hal, you're right. . . it happens every year and still. . . I feel different in the spring. I feel the anticipation, the hope. I feel enlivened, refreshed, re-invigorated.
I still look at these first signs of spring with wonderment, fascination and JOY!
The tiny buds on the trees, the shoots of green that seem to come out of nowhere. . .. the birds singing. . . the first crocus I see - I love it all! Every year it makes me happy.
The coming warm weather - leaving layers (and winter "stuff") behind, open toe shoes; kids playing outside - sidewalk chalk, bubbles, laughter from the playgrounds, more time out with the doggie; a greener, more colorful world with hours of more sunlight; better moods for (almost) everyone . . . it's fast-approaching now - it's in view!
When you live in a city and get around a lot without a car and/or you have a dog, you are out in all weather - good, bad, ugly, even sometimes downright scary, but I still feel this:
"Spring won't let me stay in this house any longer! I must get out and breathe the air deeply again." - Gustav Mahler
And this: "Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush" - Doug Larson
It was brisk today, but sunny and even though we all still needed big coats, we were out playing . . lots of other kids were out. . .. the same temperature feels different with the promise of spring (and the extra daylight!)
Happy Spring Everyone! I hope you will find some joy in the changing season!
